Para Duo Break Records Before Paris
Two members of the Australian Paralympic team for Paris have produced record-breaking performances just a couple of weeks before the Games start.
On opposite sides on Australia, two members of the Paris Paralympic team have produced great performances just days before joining their Australian teammates.
At the Queensland Short Course Swimming Titles, Paige Leonhardt has produced two new World Records. Paige, who is off to her third Paralympics in Paris, broke both the Australian and World Short Course records in the 100 MultiClass Individual Medley on Friday, and then backed it up the following day to also break the National and World mark in the 100m Butterfly.
Still only 23 years old, Paige is a reigning silver medallist in the S14 Butterfly, and a World Championship gold medallist.
Meanwhile in Perth, T38 category sprinter Rhiannon Clarke set a new national record in the 100m, breaking her own previous Australian best with a time of 12.79. Clarke placed fourth in the event at last year’s World Championships. The 22 year old heads to her second Paralympics with three World Championship medals, and is looking to add a Paralympic medal in Paris.
