FRIDAY FLASHBACK: Elle Armit
She became an Olympic silver medallist in Paris, but the water polo star hit pause on her career after the 2021 Games.
In the aftermath of the Tokyo Olympics, Aussie Stingers water polo star Elle Armit decided to reassess both her playing career and lifestyle.
Australia, like much of the world, was still dealing with Covid-related restrictions and lockdowns, and the side were knocked out in the quarter finals of the Olympics.
HER WAY chatted to Elle from Italy in early 2022, where she was enjoying playing club water polo and spending her downtime exploring the country and other parts of Europe. She had made a decision to step away from the Stingers for that year. Two years later, we now know that Elle was selected for her second Olympics in Paris 2024, and was part of the silver medal-winning Stingers - Australia’s most successful team at those Games.
In this clip from our longer interview in early 2022, I ask Elle about the decision to make herself unavailable from the national team for that 12 month period.
