Aussie Ultra Marathon Swimmer Eva Buzo Sets Out For World First
The Sydney human rights lawyer will attempt a World first swim in South America this week as part of a bigger picture goal
Australian Eva Buzo has flown to South America this week as she prepares to take on her latest ultra marathon swim in Colombia.
The Sydney human rights lawyer, who last year became the first person to swim unassisted from Italy to Albania, will on Saturday set off from the small coastal village of Juanchaco for a 40km swim to Buenaventura.
The course Eva will follow takes in a combination of ocean and river swimming, and to make life a little easier, will be assisted by currents.
In a video recorded by Eva in April to announce the journey, she indicated this attempt was more than just about a swim, and it was part of something bigger to come. Stay tuned to HER WAY and Eva’s own Instagram account to find out more.
What Eva has already revealed is that she has also been accepted to swim the Capri-Napoli swim in Italy in early September, an iconic and tough event which is part of the FINA Ultra Marathon Swim Series. The 38km event will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
If you want to know more about how this human rights lawyer found her way to Ultra Marathon swimming, Eva spoke to HER WAY Sports Media last year for a fascinating episode of ‘HER WAY HER STORY’ which you can still hear in the podcasts section of this site.
