A 10 athlete squad headlined by a couple of Olympic champs will represent Australia on home soil later this year
Today marks 200 days until the Canoe Slalom World Championships return to Australia for the first time in 20 years.
Australia’s 10 athletes were unveiled today, with four women headlining the announcement. Most notable are Olympic champion sisters Jess and Noemie Fox, along with their 2023 World Champion teammate Kate Eckhardt, and in her World Championships debut, Kayak Cross athlete Georgie O’Callaghan.
The first round of tickets have been released to the public today, with the team having the chance to competes in front of a home crowd at Penrith Whitewater Stadium, legacy venue from the Sydney Olympic Games.
Today the first round of tickets have been released to the public, with tickets starting at $15 for children and $30 for adults, and family passes from $80. Affordable for the whole family, Paddle Australia is hopeful to see a sell out crowd across the six days of competition.
With more than 300 athletes representing 40 nations, Aussie fans will have the opportunity to witness the best in the sport. For Jess, who has been the face of the sport for well over a decade and achieved practically everything possible, it’s the first chance in her career she will have had to compete in a large international event in front of home fans.
Jess shared with HER WAY about the anticipation she’s feeling towards the event:
“It’s so special. The Olympics is that pinnacle event we strive for, but to have the home ‘Worlds’ and hopefully be able to get that crowd and those followers and fans who supported us in Paris to support us live - I really want to be able to enjoy that.”
Tickets are on sale now via Ticketek.
Today also saw the announcement that the World Champs will be broadcast on the Nine Network and 9NOW.
