Australia’s Mia Kretzer entered today’s Vert Trick competition at the X Games in California as the youngest ever to compete in the event. The nine year old came away with gold, making her the youngest athlete to stand on top of the podium at an X Games. Mia landed a 720 on her second run, and was never overtaken by any of her fellow competitors.
Fellow Aussie Arisa Trew, who recently became the first female to execute a 900 in a training session, attempted the same trick in the final, which would have surely handed her a second consecutive X Games title in the event. However Arisa fell just short of landing the manoeuvre, finishing eighth overall.
An overwhelmed Mia said after the win, “I feel crazy, I feel so happy. It’s just amazing and crazy.”
